Synergy for Justice is expanding its roster of experts to provide technical assistance to various ongoing and anticipated projects. Synergy’s roster consists of highly-qualified and experienced experts across disciplines, thematic areas, and geographic areas. These experts are called on for both short-term and long-term consultancies to provide technical assistance, either remotely or in-country, depending upon needs. We would like to deepen our bench of expertise in the following areas:
LEGAL: Access to justice; international criminal law; human rights; conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV); best practices for investigation and documentation of CRSV crimes; trauma-informed and survivor-centric legal approaches; experiences combating stigma in justice systems including at the investigation phase; trial monitoring; capacity building for judges and lawyers; transitional justice; international humanitarian law; experience in civil law system and mixed law system; experience working on legal issues and legal advocacy related to child soldiers and children born of war.
PSYCHO-SOCIAL: Trauma-informed and survivor-centric approaches to care; child development; supporting child survivors of trauma; supporting survivors of CRSV; psychological evaluation according to the Istanbul Protocol; experience combating or mitigating stigma on community, family, and individual levels; secondary trauma; capacity building for MHPSS experts, social workers and protection workers; experiences in developing programmes that focus on psychosocial support related to child soldiers and children born of CRSV.
MEDICAL: Trauma-informed and survivor-centric approaches to CRSV documentation and medical care; child development; supporting child survivors of CRSV and trauma; child abuse; physical evaluation according to the Istanbul Protocol; forensics.
OTHER EXPERTISE: Monitoring and evaluating human rights, justice and accountability projects; research in/on CRSV, CRSV stigma in justice, CRSV stigma in communities; developing advocacy campaigns and training local partners in advocacy strategy; expertise working with survivors of sexual violence (either as a survivor champion, counselor, or advocate).
